Alternate spellings: Brooklynn, Brooklynne
Brooklyn, known best as a New York City borough, is Dutch in origin. Baby Brooklyns and modern Brooklynites alike might want to take a trip over to the Netherlands to visit the namesake village Breukelen.
The name Brooklyn follows the current trend of naming children after locations (London, Paris, and Asia are trending, too). Although David and Victoria Beckham named their son Brooklyn in 1999, the name hasn’t caught on for boys. It’s made a dash to popularity for baby girls, with the Brooklyn spelling edging out Brooklynn.
