5-Minute Time Out: Abby Cadabby
The Sesame St character teaches us to rap and eat fennel. With audio!

Silly me: when I found out I was interviewing Sesame Street's resident fairy Abby Cadabby, I assumed I'd be speaking with Leslie Carrara-Rudolph, the puppeteer who performs Abby Cadabby. I'd met her once on Johnny and the Sprites (where she plays Ginger), and she did her Jennifer-Tilly-as-a-penguin impression for me and was a whole lot of fun. But when I got on the phone, the voice I heard wasn't Leslie's; it was Abby herself.
As it turns out, we had plenty to discuss, as Abby (like Leslie) is quite a talker. In addition to discussing her new, very funny Abby in Wonderland DVD, Abby Cadabby explained why she has no teeth, told me how she'd clean up the "Three Blind Mice" story, shared lessons she learned from LL Cool J and convinced me that my Italian grandmother is a fairy in disguise. And she laughed a lot. Listen to these audio clips with your kids and share in the magic. — Gwynne Watkins
So, you tell me you're having a magical day. But isn't every day a magical day for a fairy?
I watched your movie where you went to Wonderland. What was that like?
If you were to jump into another fairy tale now, which one would you pick?
Since you're from Fairyland, was it a big culture shock landing on Sesame Street?
