Band on the Diaper Run

Hotel Stories (not for wussies)

Wanna hear some gross hotel stuff...probably not but I have to get it off my chest.

In Austin, TX the band we were touring with checked into the Travel Inn.

After hanging out on a bed for a while, one of them noticed that something was crawling on him.

He pulled the covers down and found hundreds of baby cockroaches crawling around.

Then, at a rest stop I got caught up in a conversation with a woman whose family had to check out

of the Memphis Travel Lodge due to severe bed bugs!

Her and her children had bites (welt-like) all over their bodies.

I guess my complaints about the beer cans all over our room when we checked in

and the "double" beds that were really single size (see below),

and the persistant knocking on our door from housekeeping every 30 minutes pales in comparison.

I won't watch those, "Find out the truth about hotel rooms" shows but I do pull down the covers of each bed in every hotel room we encounter.

On the flip side, any hotel under the name Kimpton is the bomb.  You even get leopard robes which we most definitely take advantage of.

Btw, June is buried under my robe. This is the whole crew minus Mags who was sleeping.

Oh. My. Gosh. I cant even imagine that. How disgusting! From here on out, I am ALWAYS going to check in the bed. Did the band leave the hotel or just get moved to a "better" room?

Ewww and double ick for the cockroaches. I have to say that I swear by the Lexington hotels. We stayed at the Lexington Hotel in Montgomery, AL and Rockford, IL. The Rockford one was so cool because they had all these fun antiques from landmarks around the world. Both places were family-friendly.

I've stayed at a Kimpton Hotel in DC (hotel helix) and not only was is really affordable for a major city hotel, it was AMAZING! I forced my friends to come back to my room to see it. Props to Kimpton, for real.

We stayed at the Hotel Helix in DC as well.  I now look for a Kimpton every time I travel, but for some reason the Helix was way more affordable that most of them.

How horrid! I can't believe some hotels will charge people to stay in such filth!

I can relate to you. I stayed in a hotel in San Francisco where the bathroom and small kitchen area was home to so many cockroaches and bugs, you could hear them scampering around on the tin stove. GROSS!

I've since join the Hampton Inn team to make sure nobody ever has to experience the nightmare of a bad hotel room. We've made this hilarious video where the guy goes on to dramatically tell about his experiences with cockroaches, stained sheets, and tacky decorations in poetic form. I'll link to it - check it out!

My worst hotel story ever:

We were on a musical tour to Canada, and were staying at the Ramada Inn in Vancouver. MISTAKE. Our entire floor smelled like something had died there. In our room, next to the door, there was a blackened mark on the wall that looked like a hand had been dragged down it, and there were questionable bleach (?) stains all over the floor. But the worst came when I pulled back the sheets (which I always do, because I am paranoid) and found BLOOD on my sheets.

I am so sorry you guys ended up in the Raunch City Motel too. It must be so much worse with kids to worry about!
