Band on the Diaper Run

ACL, fevers and B.O.

We love this place! We say it every time. The people have been enthusiatic and sweet as usual here.

We're in Austin for the ACL festival.  Along with the shows we've done, I've been taking June's temperature every 2 hours because she had a 102.3 temp earlier (10 minutes before we played our set at ACL) I was freaking out just a little-but she's fine now.

Getting ready to play, trying not to worry about my babe.

Right after the set, I came back to the hotel to put her to bed while Jason is back getting the rest of the gang and the equipment-and probably drooling over Mars Volta.

I'm watching the debate trying to decide if they are really getting anywhere.  And, I'm sorry but I'm kinda bored.  And I don't want to get depressed-I'm drifting in and out of paying attention. (although i have to watch it without sound because of the sleeping baby thing)

And in case you are wondering, we are Obama supporters.  Not that I'm telling anyone what to do but we're gonna vote for Obama. (I almost wore his initials on my shirt today but then I realized I'd be walking around with B.O. written on my chest)

Also, some of you were wondering so...Magnolia watched Yo Gabba Gabba with us and all she really just wanted to know (except for was that REALLY us?) was, exactly what did I whisper to the little girl.  Since we filmed it on a green screen I really hadn't thought about what I was whispering so I mumbled some kind of "playing fair" commen and she was fine with that.  The episode couldn't have been more appropriate for us right now since Mags has become very competetive and not really the best sport at games (we play freeze tag all the time-it has become my workout for the day but at some point in every freeze tag game, Magnolia says she's not playing when she has the slightest hint that she might lose) She really wants to go see the show like we got to and she of course wants to dance on it but we told her she might have to choose between going to Disneyland and Yo Gabbe in a couple weeks.

For now, off to Cinncinati...(I really need a new camera, this pic could have been way cuter in focus)

I hope that fever is down now!!

I caught some of your show today (loved what I heard), but missed quite a bit of it because, well, my six year old had to pee.  Love ACL, but the porta potties are not so nice.

Safe travels.

Thank you guys so much for playing the free show on Thursday. I wasn't able to go to ACL and I would have been too disappointed had I not been able to see you play while you were in town! I was rocking out in the front row and taking pictures: www.flickr.com/.../photostream

I was happier than a clam to see you guys last night in Cincy (KY, whatever). Thank you for being awesome and having fun and really giving us a treat. And a special thanks to Jason for being a good sport and giving my boyfriend and I a couple pity-photos and some small-talk afterwards, even though I know you all must've been exhausted. Glad to hear June's okay, too!

Also, here's some pictures of you all and the Fairmount Girls: www.flickr.com/.../72157607562216807

We loved your set at ACL on Friday evening, although my 3-year-old son was disappointed to miss "Now," due to his parents' poor organizational skills. (He calls it "The Sign Song.")

Anyhoo, just thought I'd share a video of him singing along to "My Only Offer" in the car: www.youtube.com/watch

WE (my hubby and I) are going to Disneyland in 2 weeks!!  We are the masters of Disneyland and love it to death.  If you need to be shown around by a couple of Disneyland nuts, we'd love to help!

And your appearance on Yo Gabba Gabba was so freakin' awesome.  We were grinning from ear to ear and just dying to hear what your daughter thought!!  So so so cool!!!

Ok, so I just saw you guys playing the House of Blues in Chicago, and you were ridiculously amazing.  I have no idea why you are touring with Santogold though, because her music was so bad that me and my friend left after 2 songs :(

You should definitely move to Chicago though, that would be AWESOME.

I just got home to San Francisco from ACL, and I could not wait to read your entry about it.  I'm a devoted fan of your music and your blog.  (Reading it makes me feel like I have a leg up on mere casual MoS fans.)  This weekend was my first time seeing you live, and I was mightily impressed.

Keep up the awesome work across all mediums.

Your set at ACL was fantastic. Always good to be home; doubly good when there's great music to be heard. You guys give me great hope that I can be creative and still raise wonderful kids, and not sacrifice either. Thanks!

I'm glad you liked the Yo Gabba episode! :) My favorite thing about it was the Super Music Friends Show.  It was a blast working with you guys!  My three year old daughter has watched that segment over and over again.  She keeps singing "No one likes to be left out..." it's dang cute.  I'll work on getting you guys a great copy of the episode.

yeah!

A great on the go, compact "point and shoot" with amazing clarity is the Leica C-Lux (or even better but more costly the D-Lux). They take great pictures, video, phenomenal B&W feature, and fit in your shirt pocket. I have a Nikon D300 and find that most digital SLR's are not conducive for grabbing spontaneous "cute" moments unless you happen to have already set your camera for the current conditions. Unless you're using the automatic setting, and well that is just a waste of money to own a camera like that and use it on auto. Good luck. Can't wait to see the Gabba episode.

P.S. my friends Summerbirds in the Cellar played with you all and had the best things to say about the experience.
