Band on the Diaper Run

Breaking Records

Please Please don't forget to read for the record today.  Everyone read the book Courdory to your children and register them at jumpstart and we can promote reading and try to get books into the hands of children who don't have many (or any).

Mags and I counted our books and I'm a little embarrassed to say we counted over 200.  We're gonna give some away when we get off this bus.

BTW it's our first bus tour and June slept through the night for the first time a few days into the tour (10 hours straight). I of course woke up every hour to check her breathing.

We may just sell our house and buy a bus if that's what it takes to get a full night sleep around here.

Mags will be joining us tomorrow and she desperately wants a top bunk.  I cant wait to see her tomorrow.  She tells 10 minute long stories now without stopping for air.

The tour is speeding by, I guess that's a good thing.  Here's some footage of us in Lawrence, KS our old stomping ground. Come check out our tour with Santogold. Dates are up on our myspace. And read with your kids today!!

Just saw you guys in Denver, I'm really impressed with your new performance. It sounded so full and amazing. I've been a fan for a long time and I have no problem saying you all are my number one band.

Thanks so much for coming back to Denver! I would love to see you more often.

Why don't you guys EVER come to St. Louis? It would actually make my life....but regardless, I love your band and blog. :)

Any chance you'll add a few shows on your home turf at the end of the tour?  It was awesome to see you at Toad's in New Haven in the spring and we would love to have you back.

I am so happy I stumbled in on you blog!  I have been fan for a long time and I had NO IDEA you were touring with babes!! That is amazing!  I have a hard enough time keeping my 2 from getting lost and we don't even go hardly anywhere!  Thanks for making such pretty music! :)

Could you please clear something up for me? I see that you're an Obama supporter and my Husband SWEARS it's one of your songs playing in the background of a recent pro-Obama commercial we saw. Is it really? or is he making stuff up to make me look dumb for not recognizing my favortie band on national television? By the way I love you guys and your commitment to each other and your family values in these crazy times. Rock on!

Mates, it’s your boy Brett from Boston.  You will never believe this one… I’ll be in Vegas the same weekend that you’re performing at the House of Blues.  I’m going to see my brother perform at Mandalay Events Center.  Maybe I’ll see the Mates tribe walking around the hotel/venue.  Good luck with the tour and hopefully you’ll be back in Boston soon.

Hello all, Im home for a little while, trying to answer any questions on the posts.  So, Erin, I'm not sure if we were on an Obama ad but we'd be totally flattered if that were true.  Brett, we tried to get in to see your brother play since our nannies are serious fans and it was one of their b-days.  But, no one could make it happen.  I guess that means we almost ran into to you.

KJ, As far as tour dates go, we will be doing more in Nov. and then again this spring.  Not sure where and when though.  Thanks for reading!

Mates of State

Kori Gardner and Jason Hammel

Kori Gardner is the organ-playing half of the band Mates of State; her husband, Jason Hammel, plays drums. Known for their vocal harmonies and euphoric melodies, Mates of State has been described by critics as "unabashed joy", "honesty at its best", a "two piece with balls", and "a band that you must see live." Their daughter, Magnolia, was born in 2004 and started touring with the band at 10 weeks. June, their second girl, was born early this year. The whole family is touring the world right now.
