Band on the Diaper Run

One more tour this year...

But for now, looking back the these pics from the last one, I know we laughed.  Good times.

Just woke up.  (Can you tell?)  The bus stopped here so we could get breakfast.

Star in your own video at the Zeum in SF (more on that if you scroll down)

Hi, I just slept through the night on the bus! I should really start doing that on a regular basis now.

Our early morning family walk in Seattle.

Mags tried Japanese food including fishcake and edamame and guess what, she loooved it.

Goodbye picky eater. Hello Indian food, hopefully.

Jason couldn't resist riding the green dinosaur in Sacramento.

Watching the other bands, Low vs. Diamond, Alice Smith and Santogold.

We will miss our nanny who is moving on to greener pastures.

She now has something permanent to remember our adventures.

Lisa celebrated a Hostess B-day on the bus.

Mags thinks she's on stage.  Jammin on the tamborine.

Santogold=cool (on stage with awesome dancers)

Me=pretty cool too, right? (doing yoga in a woodsy restaurant)

Ok fine, I'm not cool but I have fun.  Like I mentioned, Mags made a video. If I can figure our how to transfer it to my computer, you can see it and you, without a doubt, will laugh.

I'm seriously into being her backup dancer in this picture.  I may even be wondering if I can persuade Santogold to hire me-the thought did cross my mind.

 There's no place like "home"

In the middle of night, sleepin hard on the bottom bunk (arm and stuffed animal sprawled out in the bunk aisle).

Starting another tour on Friday.  I'm loving this home thing, especially in the fall in New England...

(the cast of Peter Pan)

But, I also kind of can't wait to get going again in a few days. The cycle continues.

I got to be Mates of State for Halloween with my girlfriend. I think we did a pretty good job. And that's my story.

Great pictures.  You'll be glad to know I went as a Peter Pan character this year too, but I went as Captain Hook.

Everyone knows you can't resist a woman with an eye patch...

I just love you guys so much. It started with your music, and then as I learned more and more about you guys as people (and a family) I became an even bigger fan. You are wonderful and inspiring. It is refreshing to learn that my favorite band is made up of such normal, relateable people. And you guys definitely win for cutest couple/cutest kids/best Halloween costume!

I love you guys! I work at a Quiksilver store and heard Fraud in the '80s, ran to the stockroom like WHOA WOW WHO IS THIS?!! and every time they play one of the several tracks of yours at work I dance around and much, much happier folding T-Shirts and stocking blue jeans on the shelves. Thanks for brightening the work dayz, hope to see you in Austin some time!

These pictures are all so great. They make me think of the mountains of photos my parents have stashed away of all of us when my brother & I were young. I love pulling them out when I'm feeling nostalgic & I hope your kids will, too.

Mates of State

Kori Gardner and Jason Hammel

Kori Gardner is the organ-playing half of the band Mates of State; her husband, Jason Hammel, plays drums. Known for their vocal harmonies and euphoric melodies, Mates of State has been described by critics as "unabashed joy", "honesty at its best", a "two piece with balls", and "a band that you must see live." Their daughter, Magnolia, was born in 2004 and started touring with the band at 10 weeks. June, their second girl, was born early this year. The whole family is touring the world right now.
