  • The Babble Review: Merry Muscles Baby Jumper

    Posted by Gwynne Watkins

Most experts would tell you that baby exercisers are bad news for developing bodies, because they allow muscles to engage that aren't yet ready to do so. When I was told this, I thought it made a lot of sense, and it's still the main reason I haven't broken down and gotten an Exersaucer to share with the babysitting (that, and the fact that it would take up half the living room). But as soon as I put my daughter in the Merry Muscles ($69.95) and watched her bouncing in the air like a twenty-pound astronaut, the theoretical vs. practical baby debate went out the window.

    Lollipop Art Mini Prints

Why would you spent hundreds of dollars on a single print for the nursery when for just $4 a pop you could amass an array of these adorable watercolors by Lollipopart (available at Etsy)? Each piece is just 5" x 5", and I'm picturing an arrangement of a dozen or more. So cute!

While I can appreciate an adorable denim skirt, this Lit'l Earnie Mini skirt begs the question: Why would you spend $80 on a piece of clothing that boasts an uneven waistband?

    At Ruby's Kids, regularly $125.

  • Garden Gnomes: Creepy or Cute?

    gnome-shirt

This gnome shirt seems to have cast some kind of garden-y creature spell on me. At first I thought, "What the hell is that gnome doing to that rabbit?" But the little man and his appliqued mushroom are growing on me, even if it still bugs me that the whole thing isn't to scale (teeny pygmy rabbit, I guess?) I want one. I do. Gnome powers. If you are similarly overcome, it's $39.95 at Liliputians, NYC, sizes 6 months to 8 years.

  • Drool on This: Skookum Baby Diaper Bags for Baby and Dolly

    Posted by Karen

While in Chicago, I had the good fortune to be in the vicinity of some of the cutest dolly diaper bags I have ever seen.  Skookum Baby, out of British Columbia, is the place to get them.  Hand made by Amber, Mom to Hannah, these drool-worthy bags are vibrant and practical, what with their many pockets and washable matching change pads.

Custom order several styles right online, for both dolly and real babies too.  Shown above is the Disco Dot Bag for your little one's dollies ($30).

Hat tip to Kimberly of Sanity and the Solo Mom at iVillage, who nearly lost her bags to a very jealous me.

    Rockabye Baby! No Doubt Lullabies

I can't decide if this is brilliant or creepy. It may be a little of each. Rockabye Baby! makes CDs of contemporary rock and turns them into baby-friendly lullabies. The No Doubt disc, pictured above, includes Hey Baby (just about the most un-lullaby-ish song of which I can think) but is missing Hollaback Girl. Oh, right; that was Gwen Stefani as a solo artist. Pity.

They're $16.98 apiece from the manufacturer, if you dare.

My therapist will be getting an earful this week about the emotions I got after seeing this bag.  I recall the popular girls in my classes sporting pretty pink bags and matching pencils, all the while I brought my books in a brown sack.  Okay, maybe it wasn't that bad, but those girls never had anything like this!

Snag this scrumptious schoolbag and avoid future therapy for $118 at Adorables.  Unless of course you insist on buying it for your son.
