Vintage Kimono Barrettes: When A Scrunchie Just Won't Do

It's taken nearly three years of brushing, moisturizing and praying, but my daughter finally has enough stubborn little coils to coax into a barrette. This new development calls for something far more special than garden variety drugstore elastics. These one-of-a-kind "plum blossoms" fashioned from vintage Japanese silk kimonos are the perfect way to celebrate my no longer having to explain: "She's a girl."
