The Baby Bistro Box: A Complete Guide to Healthy Feeding for Your Baby

Posted by aprilpeveteaux

This is a shower gift, plain and simple. While I did dig into this recipe box filled with advice on healthy eating from pregnancy until the baby’s first birthday, recipes included, no mom is going to have time to sit down with this during the first year of madness with the loudest and messiest roommate you’ve ever had. However, if you did get this from your Aunt Martha who is a sucker for a picture of a baby in a chef’s hat, here’s the skinny.

Likes:

Fishy Fish - a very detailed (and recently updated) look into the one food group that is either so good for you that your brain will explode with genius, or will kill you and your child. I’m always confused, and the people behind the box took the time to lay it all on the line. The information I got from my midwife wasn’t this extensive.

Choking Checks – a list of foods you might think you can feed your baby when they start solids, but are actually accidents waiting to happen.

Opt for Organic - advice on when to splurge on organic and when to protect your wallet.

Dislikes:

Monster Meats – deli meats, hot dogs, bacon, sausage and cured meats are all on the ‘no’ list until your babe is two-years-old. Mostly don’t like this because it makes me go, “Oops.”

Never Nuts – I know this is a serious issue, but my one-year-old loved her some peanut butter upon first lick. Depriving her of the luscious protein-packed delicacy for a whole other year while her mother was eating it in front of her by the spoonful would have been cruel.
