SkateLab Furniture Unites Room and Board

Posted by Aaron Burgess

Many moons ago, when my shins still bore fresh wounds from missed kickflips, I would take spent skateboard decks, nail 'em to a few triangular cuts of wood and jury-rig bookshelves out of the things. With SkateLab Furniture, that's pretty much the same concept designer David "ZAZ" Zasloff had in mind -- only his far better mating of form and function, complete with polyurethane-wheel bookends, also happened to land this dad and fellow skating nerd an exclusive deal with Target.

Purists may whine about the choice of graphics (despite using real skateboards, SkateLab swaps generic imagery for pro-endorsed style), but SkateLab's shelves and frames (pictured below) would make great accent pieces in any junior skater's living space. Plus, really, who'd prefer mounting a new pro deck to riding it?

Prices range from $29.99 to $39.99: Check out the full line at Target.com if you're looking for a bedroom makeover that'll work as your grommet graduates from the playground to the skatepark.
