If you're going to drop $2,595 for a children's bed, even one that doubles as a loft and indoor playhouse, the idea of going overboard probably isn't an issue to you, so why not go all the way overboard and sink that cash into a custom-made space-shuttle bunk that'll make your kids the envy not only of their playmates, but of NASA engineers, as well?
Made in the USA (I should hope so!), this mother of all play beds is hand-built and painted to order, which means you can have it delivered in any shade you like. Though it's designed to sit against a wall, you can tack on an additional $175 for an extra wing and the freedom to place it anywhere in the room.
As with many beds of this nature, it doesn't include mattresses (it accommodates up to two twins), but you do get two chairs to use inside the cockpit, which, I suppose, is far more important from a kid's perspective. And best of all, it doesn't explode on re-entry!
