Hand Made: A Different Kind of Ugly Doll

Posted by Erin Behan

Since most of the woOberry dolls are made to resemble people, you can't really call them ugly dolls, per se. Perhaps quirky dolls with strange legs. The dolls get their inspiration from children's drawings--hence their misshapen bodies and disproportionate limbs. Each has a short story to tell--above is Gus ($55), a high school history teacher whose hobbies include strolling the park and sleeping late (on the weekends, of course). The more you look at them, the more they grow on you--kinda like that drawing on the fridge.
