2 Peas 1 Pod make some of my absolute favorite designs for baby birth announcements and greeting cards. Simply put, they are modern and beautiful without being clichéd. Now, in addition to their usual printed products, you can have them design a custom E-Card for you too.
2 Peas 1 Pod is run by a mom/graphic designer who will take a picture of your newest arrival and put it into one of her custom designs. Then (on your approval) she will either print up your announcements or send you an e-card version. I've personally had holiday cards and birth announcements done and have been extremely happy with the results. She also has some templates set up for adoption notices which are pretty cool.
I'm not sure I'd want to announce my baby strictly over email, but if saving trees is your thing it might be a good option for you.
