Let's See Junior Toss This Fork!

Posted by Erin Behan

I've laughed every time I've looked at this photo, and I expect to continue laughing for several more looks. However, in its ridiculousness is a pretty good idea--keeping your toddler's utensils and bowl where they belong, on the tray, by use of suction cups. The manufacturers (Dream Baby) claim that the Stay Put cutlery helps toddlers improve hand-eye coordination by subtly "forcing" the utensils into a general area, thus guiding proper placement (although I'm imagining a particularly savvy toddler tossing the fork down only to have it spring back up again). At $9.95 (in blue, pink or yellow) the Stay Put Bowl and Cutlery Set doesn't seem like too much of a risk to try this one out for yourself--especially if forks and bowls are synonymous with grenades in your house.

I got this ages ago for my son, before he was even one. I had such great expectations. He figured it out in a matter of minutes and chucked the fork and bowl. I was so disappointed. Don't waste your $

I tried a few different suction cup-based sets for my youngest, and nothing worked. If they really want to unstick the dishes and cutlery, they will.
