Every Baby Needs a Bamboo Sweater

Posted by elizabeth leach

Bamboo is the new hot material for baby clothes and blankets for many reasons. Softer than cotton and extra gentle for sensitive skin, Bamboo also keeps baby warm and dry thanks to it's natural wicking ability. The above bamboo hoodie by Kicky Pants feels like silk and looks super sweet. And get 10% off (code after the jump)...

If you live in a warm climate (I'm jealous) bamboo keeps baby 2-3 degrees cooler in hot weather. Find the Bamboo Knit Sweater at What Every Baby Needs for $50. Available in pink, blue, natural and chocolate. Sizes for 3-24 months.

To complete the outfit, try Boot-Cut Leggings by Sam's Friend. Made in Peru from cotton with a touch of spandex, these leggings are a great staple. Available in brown, lime, hot pink, light pink, winter white, black and purple and in sizes 12- 4T. Find them at What Every Baby Needs for $26 each.

I bought a bunch of Kicky Pants stuff and then DB, who works at a clothing company well known for their environmental commitment (they do mostly organic clothing), asked some of the designers and product managers about bamboo. They said that the process of prepping bamboo is actually more environmentally destructive than normal cotton.
