Child Menorah Costume

Posted by Erin Behan

If the Christmas celebrants get to dress up as elves, wise men and shephards, certainly the Hannakah celebrants can don a menorah outfit ($12.95)--or perhaps a torah ($17.47) is more your child's style. While I've never been to a Hanukkah celebration that included costumes, seems like it would be a lot of fun to have a shiny menorah join the party. Costume craze has something for just about every holiday ... who knew?

Except this is not a Chanukah menorah... It's a regular Shabbat menorah.  The one for Chanukah needs 9 candle holders.

This is ridiculous.  We have a holiday for dressing up (and getting drunk too).  It's called Purim.  I know it is very hard for non-Jews and (surprisingly) Jews to remember, but we have holidays that aren't centered around Christian ones.  Purim - look it up. It's lots of fun.

If the kiddies want, they can play in the dress up box like the rest of the year!

There's something a little weird about dressing your child up like a Torah.  It rubs me the wrong way.
