Birthday Nostalgia: Angels of Childhood

Posted by Cathy Hale

If you're like me, you're freaking out right now seeing these angels. Yes, they are exactly like the ones you collected as a little girl! What memories! If they don't look familiar, take it from somebody who knows, this is a wonderful tradition you can start with your daughter in honor of her special day.

These porcelain Keepsake Birthday Figurines are inspired by the original design from the artist who first created them in 1945. The angels start at one-year-old and go through ten-years-old. The angels grow and change each year, perfectly illustrating how your daughter is growing up. For example, the two-year-old is holdig a teddy bear, the five-year-old is holding a book and the seven-year-old is holding a doll. Give the gift of nostalgia. I've been giving these to my daughter every year on her birthday. I was lucky to find three of them on sale at Goodwill. Glad to see Chasing Fireflies has them, they're not easy to come by.

If you are lucky you can buy a whole lot of the original vintage pieces on shopgoodwill.com like I did.  I bought ages 1-16 in a lot for $32.00 and they are all the vintage originals.  Although I like these remakes, the originals have a bit more detail and the art is a bit more delicate.

Oh my gosh!  I have these though age 18.  I have been trying to get my mom to get me the 19-21!  They are so hard to come by.  I now have a little boy...any alternatives for boys?
