The Babble Review: Trunki

Posted by editors

How great is it when you get to the point where your little ones can haul their own stuff? The Trunki is a cute and - this is key – lightweight, rolling piece of luggage that comes in fun colors and designs made just for traveling toddlers.

My daughter packed up her Frieda the Trunki (pictured above) the minute she laid eyes on it and has been hauling that cow around the house ever since. I almost can’t wait until the next harrowing cross-country flight where I’m picturing her happily pulling her Trunki behind her through the terminal. And when she does get bored (it’s inevitable with that toddler ADD) she can hop on and her father or I will pull her happily to the gate. Yea Trunki! Is that realistic? Anyone had a dream trip with their Trunki? – April Peveteaux

Get Frieda the cow and other Trunkis at Little Jet Set for $59.99.

I had a dream trip with trunki and my almost 5 y old daughter (and a 2 y old). She was extatic to pull it or push herself on it on the airports smooth floors, or even just wait in line on it. We got lots of smiles from other travellers and some other parents would smack their forehead (translate as ''brilliant!''). It fits under the plane seat in front of you and although it is small, you can pack enough toys, activity books etc to entertain the children before and during a flight. Each passenger that pays for a seat is allowed a hand bag so I kept the snacks, drinks and clothes in my bag. Luckily the 2 y old didn't fight for the trunki - she was carried in a sling.

We took our then 2 year old and the Trunki to Hawaii and it was a lifesaver!  The Trunki was a hit at the airport (especially with other kids/parents) and in the hotel room where my daugher played with it in the room.  She was thrilled to pull it around and if she didn't want to pull it, we threw the strap over our shoulder.  It had enough room to carry evertyhing we needed for our plane trip (extra clothes, a travel potty, activities, etc...) which made it easier for all of us.  This plus the Pack Back for the car seat were real lifesavers for traveling with a small kid (especially if they don't like to be held).
