Turns out I've already failed my child--and he/she is still in utero! Sure I bought the organic bedding, but I forgot the mattress. While I probably won't be returning the mattress we already bought, the Naturepedic seems like a fairly affordable choice for the more dedicated organic parent (from $259). Eschewing materials such as vinyl and PVC, it's covered in Polyethelyne, stuffed with organic cotton and is hypoallergenic. The company also sells mattress pads and sheets.
