When I see adults wearing Crocs, I want to repeatedly punch myself in the face. Surely they aren't doing that? On the other hand, Crocs are cute and convenient for little ones. They wash easily and endure most play. The gabby style featured above is by far the cutest Crocs style I've seen.

You either love or hate Crocs. Personally, as you may have noticed, I am not a fan. But I’m not cruel. My daughter has begged for her own pair since she the first (and every) time saw them, I finally broke down and got her a pair of hot pink classic Crocs. But now, she wants me to get a pair so we can match. I have to calmly explain to her that “mommy won’t wear a pair of Crocs...ever." This was a promise I thought I could keep, until now.

A Croc For All Seasons

At first glance I did not realize that these super cute fuzzy pink boots were the product of (gasp) crocs. But, behold! They are! The line has come out with boots that feature removable fuzzy footbeds for fall and winter wear. It has not yet gotten cold enough for me to weigh in on whether or not a rubber boot of this nature actually keeps the tootsies warm or if a rubber boot like this might actually make your little ones' feet sweat like crazy when indoors. I find Uggs to be somewhat unbearable for this reason - nothing more gross after a few weeks of wear than the smelliness of footwear that overheats your feet. However, these are just darn cute. I especially like Berry Berry (shown) and Cotton Candy in the Nadia style.

Oh Angelina, how could you do this to us? Look how cute and Dexy’s Midnight Runners-ish son Pax looks, and Zahara is totally playing it subtle with her mauve and rosy pink ensemble, and then you had to go and spoil the whole thing with Shiloh’s bright green Crocs (Crocs Kids Cayman in Lime Green $25 here). Photographed in New Orleans today, Angelina took half her brood out for a quick snack run. And no, I’m not even going to go in the whole Cheeto’s thing.

Star Baby Update! Matilda Ledger – Crocs Hit Or Miss?

Last week I wrote a post entitled Matilda Ledger – Crocs Hit Or Miss where she opted to wear the tolerable and pretty cute Mary Jane Crocs in Ruby Red. But little Matlida, she just went and broke my heart. Why?

'Cos she’s sporting the c~~lassic croc! The shoe I love to hate. Here she is wearing a pair of the hot pink classic Cayman crocs.~~ round toed, holey croc! (originally I thought Matilda was wearing the classic clog croc but our eagle eyed readers corrected me...she's wearing the Mary Jane style...I still don't like 'em) But at least they’re not the pink ones with Dora on them and she did have the good sense to color coordinate them with her princess purse. But you know it’s best to put something on your kids like on their feet rather than nothing at all, especially since they all seem to love these glorified flip flops. If you have to, you can get your kid a pair here.

Okay, now don’t get your panties in a bunch, but I’m just not a fan of the Crocs. It’s one of those fashion trends like Ugg Boots and acid wash jeans, you either love ‘em or you don’t. Of the three before mentioned trends that have plagued our lifetime, I am not a fan of any of them. But Matilda’s Ledger’s Crocs? Okay, those are tolerable if not pretty cute and probably practical to boot. As Matilda eats her popsicle, looking eerily like her dear and departed dad, she cold chills in her stroller sporting the Alice Mary Jane Croc in Ruby Red ($29.99 here). You might see my kid in these, but Uggs or acid wash jeans? Never.

After reading Redsy's post on Strollerderby today about Crocs heading for the hills, I wondered if everyone's favorite fugly footwear was on sale.

I got distracted by the inventory, which includes a pair of DISNEY PIRATE CROCS FOR ADULTS. Who the hell wears these things? I get that adults like Disney, but seriously? You are old enough to have a driver's license, but you still want to wear Pirates of the Caribbean SHOES?

Keep Crocs From Eating Your Children's Feet This Summer

Moderndaydad's recent "7 Days of Summerwear" post about Crocs -- which, full disclosure, I also endorse for their convenience, comfort, and non-toxic construction -- came at a good time, because while the shoes may be great for warm weather, they're also raising serious questions about when and where else it's appropriate to wear them.

From the CPSC's carefully worded May 13 warning about "popular soft-sided flexible clogs and slides" to this more specific story from last Thursday (complete with not-suitable-for-mealtime-viewing video), to a pending $7 million lawsuit against the company, Crocs are as infamous for posing a potential danger to children's feet as they are for having questionable aesthetic value. The reason: Escalators' moving parts seem to have an unhealthy, potentially grisly attraction to the popular soft-soled shoes.

Oddly enough, Crocs seems to be taking an "Ignore it and it'll go away" stance on the problem, at least on its online FAQ: You can get answers to questions such as "Can I boil and then eat my Crocs shoes?" (not recommended) and "Can I microwave my Crocs shoes?" (ditto), but not for something as basic as "How can I keep my kids' feet from getting mangled in an escalator while wearing Crocs shoes?"

Well, fear not, because Consumer Reports has compiled this handy list of 11 tips for keeping your kids' Crocs from meeting certain doom, some excerpts of which follow:

To avoid the sides of steps where entrapment can occur, stand in the middle of the step. Always face forward and hold the handrail.
Step over the comb plate. Always pick up your feet and step carefully on or off the escalator. Never drag or slide your feet off the edge of the escalator.
Stay clear of moving parts. Keep your hands, feet and clothing clear of the side panels of the escalator. Remember: loose shoe laces, rubber boots and baggy clothes can get caught in the moving parts of the escalator. Make sure you have no dangling clothing or loose shoelaces that could get caught.

Of course, the simplest way to avoid Crocs-related escalator injuries is not to let your kids wear the things on escalators in the first place, but as the tips above show, such injuries aren't just limited to recyclable, rubbery footwear. Any loose-fitting shoe, as well as dangling laces, baggy apparel or stray limbs, can pose just as big a risk, so use some common sense and teach the kids to dodge that comb plate -- or, you know, take the stairs.

7 Days of Summerwear: Crocs

After thinking long and hard about what to write about for "7 Days of Summerwear," I kept coming back to one thing: Crocs. Sure, it's obvious. Sure, lots of people love them and lots of people hate them. And sure, they're everywhere. But the thing about Crocs is, they're good with socks or without, easy for a toddler to put on themselves, and are fairly durable. From my perspective, all that equals perfect summerwear.

There are lots of things I don't love about them, namely how they seem to attract dirt like magnets and how absolutely ugly they look on adults. But my girls love them, and after confirming they can walk perfectly well in them, I can't really argue.

Spit Up: Polliwalks Gator Croc-offs

At first, the cloying marketing copy turned me off to Polliwalks' knock-off Croc shoes. Then I thought that perhaps I'd like to revise it to read something like this:

"Once upon a time, children's shoes were taking themselves a bit too seriously, and little feet weren't having any fun. Then one day, a brand named Polliwalks was created. With their colorful animal uppers and patent pending Footprinter bottoms, these little critters were designed to terrify 9 out of 10 children."

They terrify me. No way am I putting my kid's foot into something that has teeth.

A tongue? Okay. A shoe can have a tongue. But it cannot have podiatric dentata. End of story.

Bling Baby Swarovski Crystal Croc-like Shoes

A few days ago, Mir posted some sparkling sunglasses, and when I came across these croc inspired sandals I thought the child with the Swarovski crystal embellished sunglasses would want these Swarovski crystal embellished shoes . And, get ready, matching pacifier clip.

You can never have too much bling, baby.

And on the plus side you will never lose this child dressed outdoors. The sun reflecting off of her would be a blinding beacon of light.

Crocs: They Might be Ugly, but They Sure are Cute

Crocs are SERIOUSLY some of the ugliest shoes ever invented. I wonder if that's why my kids adore them so?

With the new Pirates movie, my kids are all pirates, all the time. Crocs are slip resistant, anti-microbial and lightweight - all things I look for in kids shoes. These pirate Crocs ($34.99) would make them so happy. The fact that they are great for the beach, the pool and just for kicking around would make me so happy. Hmm, I think I can smell a compromise coming my way.
