See Kai Run: The Smaller Collection

You know what I hate about the footwear company See Kai Run? They don’t make shoes in my size! And now they’re about to launch yet another line of shoes for me to be envious of, the Smaller collection. These soft-soled booties are for babies from 0 to 18 months and feature the same ultra smooth buttery leather as the original but has “a suede sole with non-slip rubber pads for extra protection and traction ideal for crawling and cruising”. Soft and supple, just like your baby’s feet. Pictured above are the (from left to right: Addison, Monica and the Gavin) and the line starts at $32 a pair. The line won’t be available until the beginning of August (online and in stores), but that’s like next week, so you won’t have to wait too long. Check out their site here.

Leather certainly wouldn’t be my first choice of fabric for a bib, but the more I think about it the more it makes sense. Before having kids I used to think of leather as a delicate luxury. But after seeing how gracefully my leather living room chairs have endured abuse, like sippy cup splashes, spit-up and smeared on sweet potatoes, I’m sold on leather as a kid-friendly fabric. So the functionality of this bib may not be so farfetched.

It’s a bold statement, but Mally Bibs claims their leather bib is “The only one you’ll ever need.” Simply wipe it clean after use and you’re good to go. Georgina Goodman has designed these sumptious 100% Italian leather baby shoes. Made from a single piece of the softest vegetable tanned leather, these luxuriouos shoes will swaddle your baby's feet in comfort.

Hand stitched with yellow thread with natural leather laces.

I know, they are gorgeous. They make you drool. You want a pair for your baby. Well, here's hoping your baby was born with a silver spoon in his/her mouth. These shoes, for babies who are not even walking yet and therefore technically do not even need shoes, will set you back $237 at enfant terrible.

Here you can see the stitching and slightly squared off toe to accomodate chubby feet.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE these boots from Vincent Shoes and would ever go so far as to order them for The 8 Year Old Destroyer of Footwear . But dammed if they don't scream urbane male with a strong aesthetic sense. Ahem.

I met Sandy Vohr in person - a lovely lady - who handmakes these leather bookends, doorstops and paperweights in adorable animal shapes. I first fell in love with these giraffe bookends, but that was before I saw the rest of her collection. More pictures after the jump.

It's true, I've been unable to pull myself away from the Victoria Staten website since first discovering it. It's like happening upon a car crash; I want to avert my gaze, but I cannot. Hey, I'm not even going to give this $475 leather high chair a "spit up" label, because it at least has a washable plastic tray (and I can envision putting a cover over the seat while baby eats, to keep it clean).

Plus, you know, they spelled this one right. So. Good for them.

Their website proclaims the Victoria Staten brand is "the first branded or designer product line that spans the entire spectrum of the infant product market for the modern family." In case you're wondering, in this instance "modern family" means "richer than God." Why, for just $650 you can have this gorgeous maple and leather playard [sic -- apparently all that money doesn't buy spellcheck], suitable for all your pretend offspring. (What, you're going to put a real baby inside that thing? Are you nuts? He might ruin it!)

Pepe Booties Softer than a Baby's Bottom

Album di Famiglia brings us Pepe booties, made with leather soft enough to nuzzle baby's delicate feet in. In two styles and three handsome colors, these wonderful finds are precious and rare. So rare, it was very difficult to find sources to purchase them. Though the Pepe website is under construction, I was able to track down a few places where you can get them. Little Fashion Gallery carries these darling booties, as well as Album di Famiglia clothing (completely delicious as well). Rafello Network carries the kids line of shoes, as does Freaky Shopping.

While the price tag of £44.25 ($88.12 USD) is more than I would pay, they certainly would make a lovely gift for a baby that you absolutely love.
