Sure, a pack-n-play will do if you're going on a long trip where you can check your luggage or throw it in the back of your car, but what about those quick jaunts? What about when the older kids want to spend the day at the beach? Or camping? Kidco's PeaPod ($48.90 at Amazon) pops up to make a cozy nest for baby wherever you are. When not in use, it folds down practically flat. (Would that you could do the same with the baby, right?)

My husband and I tried to do a fair amount of camping when our son was younger, but always struggled to find suitable sleeping arrangements. The pack-n-play was often too bulky, but putting him just in the tent often didn’t provide enough confinement. Good for traveling across the state or across the street for dinner, check out the Air Crib for portable sleep. Sides blow up independently of each other with a few pumps with the included hand-pump.
