T. Rex Wall Decal Makes a Big Statement

I've seen a lot of (mostly ugly) dinosaur wall decals in my day, but this T. Rex skeleton from e-glue stands out for its clean lines and huge variety of colors. It's available in two sizes -- XXL (shown here) and a mere XL -- and though the range of choices might seem a little overwhelming, just play with e-glue's color-wheel application until you're ready to add it to your cart. Finding room for it in your budget, on the other hand, could be another story: The XL set starts at €75 -- or around $100 U.S.

Wall stickers remain one of the easiest ways (after painting) to snazz up a nursery or kids room. And sourcing some wall stickers no one else has puts you that much ahead of the rest of the nursery decorating crowd. I'm getting all ga-ga over Subhuti's bunny decals and kitty decals (photo below) on Etsy. They're just $12 for the 8"x10" vinyl sticker. The vinyls come in a variety of colors, and I think would look great patterned on a small wall or over a crib.

We are all fans of adhesive wall stickers on this blog – they are an easy way to cute-ify your baby’s room without having to open a paint can or lay down a dropcloth. Poisson Bulle – a funky French baby store – carries adhesive wall decals by illustrators like Annelore Parot. Her geisha girl illustrations and cherry blossoms are so insanely cute and feminine that I am tempted to buy them and redo my bathroom. The kit includes about 35 stickers (girls and circular designs). Matching adhesive borders are also available on the site, but what’s not available is an English translation, so bust out your French dictionary from high school.

Do-It-Yourself Wall Silhouettes

I love the idea of wall decals made from fabric or wallpaper. The only problem is the price tag. It would be nice to be one of those people who can make things instead of buying them. I'm not sure I am one of those people but thanks to Apartment Therapy I might give it a whirl.

Check out the instructions on how to do-it-yourself at Apartment Therapy’s "ohdeedoh". It doesn't sound too difficult for those of us who aren’t crafty, like myself. (The photo below is the example from ohdeedoh.)

Another option would be to save yourself the trouble and buy the decal. I was obsessed with the wallpaper decals from Romp Brooklyn (photo above) when my daughter was born but never took the plunge. (I wonder if you could make similar decals with fabric using the instructions from ohdeedoh? For cool, retro fabric try Retro Depot.) Romp Brooklyn's decals come in an assortment of retro wallpaper and animal silhouettes. I'm sure I'm not crafty enough to do them justice, but thank you ohdeedoh for the instructions!

Wall Decals for Dreamers

I was one of those kids with imaginary friends who played in imaginary fantasy lands, and I know I would have loved Les Invasions Emphemeres' wall decals. Available in two styles from My Sweet Muffin, the stickers are $92 a set and are 25' x 41', the perfect sized headboard to any child's bed. I can't decide if the Princess (above) or Fortress (below) are more dream-worthy, but I can see sleeping under the influence of both.

Transform Walls with Esthex Wall Stickers

I seem to be highlighting a lot of great wall stickers. There's so many cool options out there, and I'm just lazy enough to totally dig how easy they are to put up and later take down.

So I'm a currently enamored of this entire line at Esthex, what with the simple lines and child-like charm of them all. (The one pictured above is called Storm, and I love that little guy and his cape flying through those splat-like stars!) All varieties of their wall stickers come with a coloring book and bedtime story. You'll need to contact Esthex to find out where to purchase them, though (how mysterious).
