I'm guessing that most of you knew of Miley Cyrus from Disney's Hannah Montana long before the crazy pregnancy thing. Her show is one of the top-rated programs on TV, drawing some 5 million viewers a week. That's a lot of tween power.
Apparently their power isn't just over the remote control. According to the Associated Press, her "Best of Both Worlds Tour"
has "gone clean," which is industry speak for "sold out" (see, it's so much hipper), at such a rate that scalpers are able to get insane prices on ebay where one ticket for a show in Charlotte sold for $2,565.
Basically, if you can buy enough tickets you can turn around and sell them to pay for your kid's college fund, or in my case a butt-load of student loans.
"We knew it was hot, but we had no idea it was this crazy,"
said Debra Rathwell, senior vice president of tour handler AEG Live.
"It's like the Beatles."
Dear God, did she just compare Miley Cyrus to the Beatles? If I wasn't already sitting down I would need to. Maybe I'll just have a beer and go to bed.
As if that wasn't enough, the AP also reports that Cyrus' tour is out-selling The Police, Justin Timberlake and Bruce Springsteen. And of course her dad.
