Louis Vuitton Doesn’t Like Britney Spears?

Or maybe just the fact that Spears, or rather her “people” used a close up of Louis Vuitton fabric in the pink Hummer used in her 2005 video, “Do Something.”  *Gasp*


The house of Vuitton (oh don’t they sound uppity?) won a case against Sony, BMG and MTV Online (Spears was not named in the actual lawsuit), and the video has been banned on European TV stations. LV was awarded 80,000 Euros (um, not sure how much that is in US funds, what do I look like, a conversion chart?) in damages for the unauthorized use of the fabric.  Paaaalease!  Usually designers want famous people to flaunt their shit.  And Brit was a respectable tramp popstar back then!  Go figure.  Apparently, the tribunal found the director of said video, guilty of “clearly emphasizing the Louis Vuitton brand.” Holy!  How awful right?  Rolling my eyes here.


The producer of the video was also ordered to pay a crap load of money for damages for “tarnishing” Vuitton
