Just Jared described Eddie Murphy's New Years Day wedding as "small and sweet." I pictured Murphy and his bride Tracey Edmonds exchanging vows before a handful of close friends and family, in their garden that had been decorated with a couple of rose-filled vases and crepe-paper streamers. The bride would be wearing an off-the-rack shift, and her and Murphy would treat their guests to a buffet of salami on Ritz crackers washed down with Diet Coke and followed by a cheesecake from Trader Joes.
Well, I got the handful of close friends and family right.
According to People magazine, Murphy and Edmonds know how to party:
- The wedding took place in front of 25 guests on a private island off Bora Bora.
- Edmonds wore a custom-designed, form-fitting dress by designers Sugia Nazel and Jill Baracci.
- Edmonds gave her bridesmaids gold and diamond earrings from XIV Karats in Beverly Hills, and Murphy gave his groomsmen D.Atlantis watches.
- Event designer Colin Cowie created a gazebo on the beach made out of 6,000 shells.
- The custom-designed wedding cake featured four layers in whites and cream with handmade sugar cymbidium and dendrobium orchids.
