Beyonce's sister Solange had advice to hand out after Jamie Lynn revealed to the world in early December that she is pregnant at the tender age of 16. Solange was also a teenaged mother to Daniel Smith's son, Daniel Julez, and has no regrets about how things turned out:
"I have been so blessed that my son is the coolest kid ever. Of course,
that first year of not sleeping and just being dedicated to him had
tough parts but that's fine. It's been a blast for me.
"A lot of people
have doubts, but when you have a child I think it takes a really
non-emotional person not to have a blast, no matter what age.
"I've heard stories of people who were 14 that had kids and basically
snapped into it and got into the groove of motherhood. I think that
emotional attachment, there's nothing out of it that you could regret."
I think a lot of the scrutiny against Jamie-Lynn was unwarranted. I mean, things happen. Teenage pregnancy isn't anything new. Now, had Britney Spears not been Jamie Lynn's older sister, would she have gotten such a harsh judgement from media outlets?
Perhaps if her mother spent less time trying to sell her daughters than supporting them, Jamie Lynn wouldn't have faced such a rake over the coals by the press.
