UK newspaper The Sun is reporting that Terry Gilliam has asked Johnny Depp to replace Heath Ledger, who died this week, in his latest film, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.
The film was six weeks from wrapping when Heath Ledger passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday.
A studio source said: “There is a point in the film when Heath falls through a magic mirror. He could change into another character after that and that is where Johnny would come in.
“It’s a weird, fantasy, time-travel movie so Heath’s character could easily change appearance. It would be a poignant moment.
“Johnny’s not working at the moment so everyone is praying he will do it.”
That the film is continuing is good news - especially after reports that the crew had been fired and production shut down. And if anyone can do credit to Heath, it's Johnny Depp. So let's hope that this story is true.
