I've never once confused Madonna and Marilyn Monroe. Even when Madonna dyed her hair platinum blonde and styled it shortish, I didn't think she looked like Marilyn.
Not the case for 73-year-old Lawrence Nicastro. Mr. Nicastro was digging through storage last year and he found a poster size image of Marilyn Monroe - or what he thought was Marilyn Monroe, all naked and such and hitchhiking. Um, ya that is Madonna from her "Sex" book that came out many many years ago.
Lawrence, along with his wife Phyllis, spent months researching the orgin of the picture. He called in Marilyn Monroe "expert," Chris Harris. Mr. Harris also believed that Lawrence had found something totally special. Wow he must be some Marilyn expert!
Lawrence and Chris even scheduled a press conference for yesterday to unveil their find! Can you imagine their embarrassment? Not so much for Lawrence, since the dude is 73 and I highly doubt he ever saw Madonna's book but for the "Marilyn expert," Chris Harris, ah ya, he'd be a tad red-faced. Luckily, the men had given the Associated Press a sneak peek and that's when they were told the not so good news.
Chris Harris said, "Who wins here? Madonna, of course. She really looks like Marilyn Monroe." I beg to differ.
