With winning the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress on the weekend, Tilda's arrangement with the man with whom she raises her children with may come under further scruntiny, and no one knows that better then her.
67 year old John Bynre and Tilda raise their 10 year old twin sons together in one house, while she also has a lover, 29 year old Sandro Kopp. Kopp joined Swinton at the Oscars, while John stayed home.
She said: "I don't have a husband. I've never been married. I have
children with someone else, with whom I'm bringing up my children. And
I've lived with someone else, my sweetheart, for the last three years,
and maybe it's extraordinary that we're really all friends."
"What
is true is that John and I live with our children and Sandro is
sometimes here with us, and we travel the world together. We are all a
family."
Tilda - who wore a one-sleeved black dress to the ceremony - revealed she was stunned to win.
She
added: "I'm still recovering from that moment, and I have absolutely no
idea what happened after that. You can tell me my dress fell off and
I'd believe you!"
Byrne agrees with Tilda's summation of their unusual relationship:
"We're amicably living together in the same house, under the same roof.
It's extraordinary.
"We love each other too, in an extraordinary way. We have always been
the best of chums and will remain the best of chums for the rest of our
lives.
"We love our children and our children love us. The rest is our business."
