I mean, her career's not dead. Yet. It's open for debate whether an appearance on a TV sitcom is evidence of career decline or career revival, but whatever the case, Britney's appearance on How I Met Your Mother seems to have been a success by ratings standards. Note I said "seems."
According to press reports, Monday’s episode of How I Met Your Mother, which featured Britney in a cameo appearance, "earned the CBS comedy its highest ratings ever:"
"How I Met Your Mother drew 10.67 million overall viewers,
the most this season, including a 3.6 rating/11 share in the 18-34 demo
and a 5.4 rating/14 share in the 25-54 demo, both series highs."
That said, despite the Britney boost, How I Met Your Mother finished behind Dancing with the Stars on ABC and did not draw as many viewers as Two and a Half Men or drama CSI: Miami.
And that, I think, tells the real story: Britney is still relevant, but maybe not as relevant as ballroom-dancing D-listers, Jon Cryer and David Caruso.
