I think she is a very cute young woman even with the shorter hair.  I think that cutting your hair can become a bit addictive.  I had long hair until I had kids.  Then I got it cut to my shoulders -- still could go in a ponytail and looked OK.  But I would feel frumpy on days I couldn't "do" my do, so I cut it a bit shorter.  Recently I cut it in a pretty short bob and I have to say I love it.

I think that once you've cut your hair short, it's hard to go back -- takes too much time and has to go through a truly fuggly stage.
