John Travolta and The Little Mermaid

Posted by Whit Honea

John Travolta put on his Sunday best wig (the thing on his head, the Sunday best beard holding his hand is wife Kelly Preston) and took birthday girl Ella to 46th Street for Disney's The Little Mermaid.  Sure beats a banded, bulbous snarfblatt.  Those get very boring.

Apparently Mr. Travolta loved the show so much that he was singing along to every song.  This is where other celebrity sites mock him, but not me.  In fact, I so love The Little Mermaid that I almost feel bad for the beard joke.  As a matter of fact I have a flyer right here on my bar, er, desk for a sing-a-long showing of the film at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood.  I want to be part of that world.

After the show the Travoltas and 26 of Ella's dearest friends went backstage for photos with the cast and some flipper envy.  Sources say that John was really enjoying himself and touching all of the costumes.

No sources said that he was singing "Look at this stuff, isn't it neat? Wouldn't ya think my collection's complete? Wouldn't you think I'm the girl- girl who has everything? Look at this trove, treasures untold. How many wonders can one cavern hold?  Looking around you'd think, sure, she's got everything. I've got gadgets and gizmos aplenty. I have whoozits and whatzis galore. You want thingamabobs? I've got twenty, but who cares? No big deal. I want more," but I like to think that he was.

Wow, Ella looks just like her father, the sperm donor used to impregnate Kelly-Nobody-Until-I-Married-Johnny-To-Make-Him-Look-Straight.

I guess coming from the guy that thought starring in Battlefield Earth was a good idea, nothing surprises me.    With something like 10 new songs (some which, like Positoovity are gawd awful), I am amazed that anybody (but perhaps the kids) "love" the Broadway edition... but Travolta clearly has tastes different than EVERYBODY else... well except for maybe L. Ron Hubbard and Tom Cruise.
