Actually, they're framing the question more as "is Jamie-Lynn's pregnancy which may or may not be the result of a rape legal?" Which, really, it's a bit late and a lot pointless to be asking that question, isn't it? And, also, you know, maybe a little bit alarmist?
Sure, nobody seems to be quite sure of Casey Aldridge's exact age - he could be as old as nineteen, which complicates the legality of his, erm, relations with Jamie Lynn - nor do they know where, exactly, those relations took place (both which have a bearing upon whether those relations could be called statutory rape) but please - isn't the whole legality of the relationship that probably* spawned this child kind of beside the point? I mean, she's a teenager who's about to have a baby and who may or may not be equipped to deal with the pressures of having said baby, so aren't there bigger things to worry about here?
It's not on the scale of Miley-Cyrus-Gone-Topless, granted - we are, after all, talking about a knocked-up girl who's hiding out in Louisana, and not dropping her clothes for major magazines - but still. New baby for a girl who's terrified of becoming a mother? That's the real hand-wringer here, not the question of whether her boyfriend is 18 or 19 and whether or not they did it in Louisiana.
*(Probably, because nobody ever did really dispute those rumors that there was another, older man in the picture at the supposed time of conception. Which, yes, eeewwww, but worth pointing out here.)
