I know, I know - we get all disgusted and up-in-arms when celebrities splash their lives all over reality television, and we call them famewhores and attention-grubbers and we bemoan the decline of Western civilization, but really? Celebs splashing their tawdry lives all over reality television is a hella lot better than celebs just pimping their perfumes and bad clothing lines. At least the former is interesting.
I say all this because Jennifer Lopez has been busy making sure that no-one mistakes her tawdry, money-grubbing reality show for those other tawdry, money-grubbing reality shows. Her tawdry reality show will feature nothing of her personal or household life - and certainly nothing of the lives her children - and just go straight to product placement: it's going to be all about the development and marketing of her perfume line.
“The recent show Jennifer Lopez plans to produce for TLC is not a
reality show,” says her manager, Simon Fields. “It’s a show that will
track the creation, production and eventual launch of a new fragrance.
Jennifer will appear in a creative, entrepreneurial capacity and will
absolutely not feature her children and family life.”
Which: YAWN.
I mean, I think it's great that she's gonna shield her kids from the cameras, but perfume? I'd much rather watch her and Marc Anthony fight over blouses than see her deliberate over whether to put her cheap perfume in a diamante bottle, or one with a big picture of her head stamped on it. Really.
