Heath Ledger's close friend Vincent Fantauzzo painted a portrait of the late actor and father and it's won the People's Choice Award at Australia's Archibald Prize Exhibition. And the painting is absolutely amazing!
A large number of people voted - more than 32,000. A rep for the Art Gallery of NSW, said the Ledger family and Vincent will donate the prize-winning portrait to the gallery.
Mr. Fantauzzo received a $2,500 and $1,000 gift certificate with his award. He issued this statement on his website:
I would like to say thank you to those who have emailed with kind words regarding my recent portrait of Heath Ledger. I feel privileged and inspired to have known him and my thoughts are with his family.
The painting called "Heath," was done at Ledger's family home in Perth shortly before the 28-year-old actor died.
