Amy Winehouse's father Mitch spoke with the UK version of People, and touched on the subject of Amy's drug & alcohol addiction, She is getting better, working hard, standing by her husband and desperate to have a family.
Mitch
said, "Watching Amy at her lowest ebb has been like someone ripping out
my guts. I've seen my daughter looking like she was dying. I've held
her, sobbed with her and raged at her when I shouldn't have out of
sheer desperation.
Mitch and Amy's husband Blake recently bonded and Mitch seems to think Blake is Amy's way back to sobriety and health.
"Blake admits he was the one who introduced Amy to hard drugs and he
bitterly regrets it. He has apologized to me and said he will make
things right for Amy and my family and I believe him."
Only two months ago, the marriage was on the rocks because of Amy's infidelity.
Mitch said, "Amy told Blake she had a little fling with (management assistant) Alex
(Haines) but never slept with him, whatever that meant.
Mitch went on to brag, "If people could see the real Amy, the full picture, not just the
worst photos, they would realize she is not in a constant pit of misery
or permanently drug-addled. She's upbeat even jolly and she's been
writing some fantastic new songs. She's really looking forward to
performing again."
He stresses, "Amy is now better and stronger than we have seen her
in ages and she's trying very hard to take responsibility for her life.
She is a million miles away from being 'cured.' In fact the experts say
she will always be a recovering addict but she is on the road to
recovery.
"I honestly think in two years she will be fit, healthy and having babies and motherhood will be her drug."
I really like Amy WInehouse's music and I hope she finds her way. She's an old soul but at the same time, she seems to need someone to take care of her. That and a shower.
