Make that a nice evening for an off-white wedding (apologies to Billy Idol.) Country singer Sara Evans, wearing an ivory silk taffeta gown by Vera Wang, married former University of Alabama quarterback Jay Barker on Saturday night.
Evans was walked down the aisle by her 8-year-old son Avery with the couple's seven children (Evans has three and Barker has four) serving as bridesmaids and groomsmen. The short ceremony featured Nashville songwriter Marcus Hummon singing "God Bless the Broken Road," which seems like an odd song for a wedding, but I've never heard it so what the hell do I know.
The couple, who met last year, announced their engagement in March. Evans' bitter split with Craig Schelske after 13-years of marriage made headlines in late 2006 when the two hurled accusations of infidelity at each other while Evans was a contestant on Dancing With the Stars. Evans also accused Schelske of being addicted to porn and exposing it to their children.
I guess I see what they mean by the 'broken road.' Here's hoping Evans finds happiness with new husband Jay Barker.
