Jamie Lynn's Delivery Room Drama!

Posted by Karen

Star magazine is reporting that it was quite a dramatic entry into the world for little Maddie Briann.  At the center of it was an inexperienced teenager, surrounded by mom Lynne and sister Britney trying to explain to Jamie that her actions could kill her baby.  But the Zoey 101 star would not listen.

"The baby's heart rate dropped every time she tried to push," a family insider tells Star. "They did an ultrasound and quickly discovered that the umbilical cord was too short." But despite the doctors' dire warnings, the 17-year-old "was adamant about having a natural delivery."

Everyone in the room at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb, Miss., pleaded with Jamie Lynn to listen to the doctors — including big sister Britney. Brit had already been with Jamie Lynn for hours, massaging her back as she endured painful contractions. "But she got mad," says the insider. She told Jamie Lynn to "just have a damn Caesarian," as she did. "Britney then ran out in tears because she couldn't bear to see what was happening."

The girls mother, Lynne, only added to the tension. "Lynne was already angry because her daughter didn't want her in the delivery room at all," says the source. "But she had insisted on being there, along with Casey Aldridge, Jamie Lynn's boyfriend. Jamie Lynn cussed and yelled at her mom, and told her to get out. She cursed Lynne for bringing her into the world to bear such pain."

I just keep shaking my head.   Lynne sounds like a freaking drama-causing toolkit.  I can't WAIT for her stupid book to come out.  They should hand it out to every pregnant teenager with a big sticker that says EPIC FAIL.

no matter her age, that sounds like a hell of a lot to deal with while in labor. Poor thing. I hope she hires herself some really good, well grounded nannies.

Poor gal.  Good for her for knowing her body and being confident.  I mean the baby came out perfect, right?  As for the "emergency surgery saves baby" mini headline in the magazine, what do you bet the "emergency surgery" was an episiotomy?  Anyway, don't let gramma or aunty babysit that sweet baby girl!  Sounds like the teenybopper Spears might have the best head on her shoulders out of the whole lot.

Lies.  Teenagers have a lot more pain in childbirth than older moms because everything is very tight and not stretched out.  When I worked in hospitals the teens in L&D screamed their heads off from the pain. They have no coping skills for such pain so they all take the drugs. No way I am buying the "brave mom who bore the pain against everyones' wishes" baloney.  Total PR fiction.  This chick freaking rode an ATV while pregnant she dont care about that kid.  They probably woke her up after the baby popped out.

I think that it would be difficult for any teenager who is pregnant to give birth because it is a lot o pain. And even though adult women experience pain as well a teenager's body is not as ready. I hope for the best for Jamie Lynn and her baby Maddie Briann.

Well Cassie, can't say I entirely agree with what you wrote there....

I was only 2 years older then Jamie when I had my first baby and I did it all naturally. I used oxygen only when pushing and otherwise, massage, time in the shower and on the excercise ball got me through the pain. I can tell you as well that having a baby at 29 hurt just as much as it did at 18. In fact, it was when I was older that I took the pain meds. All women scream at one point or another during childbirth and those that don't... had a reeeeeally good anesthesiologist.

I just had a baby a few weeks ago and it is very painful.  I did not want to take the drugs because if all the stuff I read about what it does to your baby.  To all the haters bad talking Jamie for being in a lot of pain.  Until you go through it shut up.  Pushing a watermelon out a hole the size of a lemon hurts no matter how stretched everything is.

Welcome to the English language.

The internet is not an excuse for poor grammar.

I am 31 years old and have 2 boys, I had no meds of any kind, and only did the moaning. I didn't scream once, to the point that the janitor very nearly delivered my second as the nurses didn't think I was far enough along.

Young or old, it makes no difference.

There is a baby that needs to be loved unconditionally.

I think a lot of you are on crack. Just because she is a teenager doesn't mean her body can't handle the birth. I was the same damn age when I gave birth, didn't use pain meds and had no problem. Im not a big girl either, Im 100lb pre and post baby. So all of you who have something against young mothers, grow up. You're suposed to be mature then get to it, show us you are because the way I see it, age doesn't determine the type of parent you will be.
