There's been much speculation as to why Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban named their new daughter Sunday Rose. It was said that it was a jab at Nicole's ex-husband Tom or a poke at Scientology - but really, is anyone going to make their newborn baby the center of a spiteful action? Don't most parents give their baby a specific name because they like it or it has special meaning? Of course! And Nicole's daddy has revealed the truth behind Sunday Rose....
The name Sunday Rose was inspired by Australian artist Sidney Nolans's muse, Sunday Reed. Dr. Antony Kidman said that he and his wife actually suggested the name.
"There was a lady named Sunday Reed who was a prominent patron of the arts in Victoria.
"I have read a bit about Sunday Reed and her husband John - she was a key mover and shaker in the arts around the beginning of the century. The name Sunday struck me as being a nice name for a woman, so my wife and I mentioned it."
Dr. Kidman was mesmerized by a quote at the Sidney Nolan Exhibition and Keith actually wrote it down. It read:
"When you are young you are given a good view of life, because of your closeness to birth."
Nicole's dad said, "It was among other names being mentioned but they decided that was the name they wanted." The baby's middle name is to honor Nicole's later grandmother, Rose. Nicole's brother Shane said, "It's a wonderful wonderful thing, I'm so, so proud."
There, baby name mystery solved!!
Nicole and Keith are expected to release a photo of their new little girl very soon!
