In a recent interview with US Magazine Mariah dropped some knowledge on us all about raising kids, and which environments are conducive to them being brought up with good morals and values that are going to be the basis of who you are and if you do anything meaningful in your life. What she really said was, "You can get caught up in Hollywood-land or celebrity-land, and that's maybe not the best thing for kids, 'cause they didn't ask for it. I really feel like it's important to be responsible and to think, "Well, maybe if I do this it's not the best thing for my child". You have to take a backseat a little bit, and as someone in the public eye, you're not used to doing that."
I know she meant well but, WOW. I sometimes wish I took a "little" backseat to my kids instead of them always coming first. Darn my parents for raising me right. (right, is always subject to opinion and my way is not always the right way, I know)
