The Original Palin Post: John McCain Picks Sarah Palin as VP

Posted by Whit Honea

When I first ran this story about Sarah Palin being picked as the Vice Presidential nominee by John McCain there weren't very many sites, if any, that had it.  I took it straight from my car radio as I dropped my son off at school.  I had no idea that a monster was being created- on FameCrawler, not my son.  Keep reading through the weekend and enjoy the birth of a superstar.

John McCain has all but confirmed that his choice for running mate is Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin.

All major news outlets are running with the story but still await official word from John McCain himself.

According to NPR,  when asked yesterday about who his pick would be McCain mumbled, "Wilfred Brimley."  Yes, the oats guy.

Sarah Palin has 5 children.

This is the second time that a major ticket has picked a woman has their vice presidential candidate, having been done by the Democrats in 1984.

In my opinion, by John McCain choosing a woman as his VP, is actually a slap in Hillery Clinton's face.  McCain's people are hoping to get the votes of Clinton's supporters who can't / won't vote for Barack Obama.  So, if the Repubicans win the Presidental race, and John McCain happens to keel over (because he's so old), Sarah Palin automatically becomes president without having to have done ANY OF THE WORK.  Hillery has spent years and years of countless hours, devotion, love, dedication, knowledge, hard work, trials, tribulations, heartbreak and everything else she has had to endure in the political arena including all that was involved in her journey on the campaign trail, and Sarah Palin has been on the political scene for a short period of time and who has very limited success in government compared to what Hillery has accomplished.  Should Sarah Palin become President by default, it would absolutely be a stab in Hillery's heart.  I'm not a Hillery supporter, but my heart goes out to her because she vigilantly and proudly campaigned her behind off and to have some relatively unknown, pretty face,  suddenly secure the position of President without having done any of the tireless, hard work that's involved in attaining that position, is unfair to Hillery Clinton and if some of her supporters become McCain supporters, they are in for a rude awakening.  They're fooling themselves into thinking they're honoring Hillery Clinton.  Palin will, in essence, be robbing Hillery of what could have been rightfully Hillery's.  (This is not about Democrats vs. Republicans, it's about the human element.)
