Vice Presidential Nominee Sarah Palin was Runner Up in 1984 Beauty Contest

Posted by Karl Erikson

Barack Obama sent out his Vice Presidential nominee last week via text message. I guess we've really entered the 21st century now. At least he didn't do it through WhySpace. Ugh. In contrast, yesterday John McCain sent out his VP nominee via smoke signal.

And the nominee is quite the hottie. Sarah Palin, Alaska's first female governor and mother of five children, actually came in second place in the Miss Alaska pageant back in 1984. Growl.

Palin has two sons (Track, 19 and Trig, born in April of this year) and three daughters (Bristol, 17 Willow, 14 and Piper, 7). She had Trig - who has Downs Syndrome - while in office as governor and came back to work after just three days! Now that's one tough cookie!

If I had a baby it'd take me a year to get my shit back together. Course, if I had a baby, the stretch marks alone would probably kill me. My guggenheimer would certainly never be the same.

At first I thought the rumors that the baby was her daughter's was crazy---but I looked into it---and it doesn't look as crazy as it did to me... It is all sad.

And IF the baby is Sarah's, as a special needs baby, he certainly needs his mother more than most---yet, Sarah wants to be VP...?

I don't call that good-mothering.

I can tell you as a parent of a special needs kid, autism and aproxia (speech)  My wife gave up her career for the last 10 years now to make sure our son has **everything** he needs to help him be the best person he can be,  school alone aint gonna do it.  I think Sarah should let the country run without her, her kid certainly needs more than most kids, and where was the bonding time, she dropped the kid off at daycare on day 3 to go back to work? WTF?  Hubby doesn't seem like he's gonna be mom and dad IMO..

The more I look into this, the more I agree that the baby was definitely not hers, and it then makes sense that it's usually in the arms of her daughter.

With or without scandal, this is not a Head of State.

I think of Indira Gandhi, Golda Meir, Margaret Thatcher; I think of Hillary Rodham Clinton's last speeches.  These were heads of state.

This woman is a beauty queen runner up, a contestant in a beauty pageant.  Great!  She was a cheerleader; great!  She speaks with a cutesie, girlie voice.  Where's the authority in just that, alone?

Nope.  That Republican women think she has anything to do with them is beyond me.

I really think her speech was great. She has a good outlook on what America needs and really gave Obama a run for the race.  The only part I don't understand is the pro life thing or whatever.  I had an aquaintance who gave birth in their 40s and that poor little kid never even seen his 17th birthday.  It wasn't an uneventful death either.  Internal bleeding, removal of the spleen, seizures, other intesinal problems, coma and pain. That poor little guy looked like a withered up little old man at the time of his death, not to mention he didn't get a chance to be a soccer player or participate in much of anything that other kids do.  Why would anyone be so cruel and selfish to get pregnant after 40?
