We've watched Britney Spears go from superstar pop sensation to troubled mom of two boys, who lost custody of them, to someone who is slowly rebuilding her life and career. And now this....
Ian Halperin, who posed as a paparazzi for 18 months in order to "spy" on Britney, makes a lot of highly damaging claims in his upcoming book, Stalking Britney: Britney Under Siege. We've previously hard about Spears reportedly trying to commit suicide twice - but Halperin claims she's tried four times, which include an attempt made while she was in rehab, trying to hang herself with a sheet. Another time in January of '07, by taking a large amount of pills with champagne.
He writes that at 16, Britney began a cocaine habit, and during the stressful time of her divorce to Federline, had a $30,000 a week drug habit.
Halperin also claims that, at one point, Spears wanted to hire someone to kill ex-husband, Kevin Federline, so she would be awarded sole custody of her boys, Sean Preston and Jayden James.
The celebrity sleuth said last week, "There's no doubt, based on the last two years, that she is a highly unstable person. She's on a temporary high right now, but she's never really dealt with all the problems she had. I don't think it's possible to turn over a new leaf just like that."
He does add, that Spears is a "good mother, and a good person...In fact, she's nicer than most of the stars I've met. But as Britney once told me herself, her life has always been two steps forward, followed by one step back."
Halperin has written similar exposes on Celine Dion and Kurt Cobain.
I guess Mr. Halperin is looking to cash in on the (former) trainwreck that was Britney Spears. First her mother, and now this guy.
