Randy Pausch Memorial - Video

Posted by Sassy Smith

Carnegie Mellon University professor, Randy Pausch passed away on July 25, from terminal pancreatic cancer.  The dad who became famous for his life lessons "Last Lecture," which millions of viewers watched on television and internet, has left a lasting impression on those people, that will not be forgotten.  Randy will be remembered on September 22 at the university.

The on-campus memorial is by invitation only, and will be held at 4:30 p.m. in the school's Rangos Hall.  Those that are not able to attend, will be able to watch the service live on ABC's website.

Carnegie Mellon president, Jared Cohon said in a press release, "We wish we could accomodate everybody who would like to attend this event, but the size of even the biggest room on campus, not to mention our limited parking, makes that impossible.  By making live streaming video available, we hope that everyone can join us as a virtual community."  You can watch the live stream on abcnews.go.com/ , and Dr. Cohon has urged various schools and colleges to host their own memorials so staff and students can watch the service as well.

Randy is survived by his wife Jai, and three young children - Dylan, 6, Logan, 3, and Chloe, 2.  Mrs. Pausch is expected to attend the September 22 ceremony, however, she is not expected to speak at the service.

You can see his lecture below, it will give you goosebumps.

I cannot believe that this great man died and everyone was not made aware.  I saw his story on Primetime and TiVo'd it.  Does anyone even have TiVo anymore?  This was such a touching story: not just because he was a man who loved his young children; not just because he was a man who had found the love of his life; and not just because he was a man who had a terminal illness and appreciated life, but because he was a man who had reached out and touched millions of people and made them seriously think about their lives.  As a parent of three young girls I understand the desperation that must have been felt to impress upon them the things that matter in life if it was the last impression that I was to make.  I hope that Randy's family knows what an impression he has made on everyone who has heard him speak.  He really was and will always be an amazing man.  Most people take life for granted and I'm hoping that everyone has the opportunity to hear what Randy has had to say.  It will change your life...
