When Solange Knowles, little sister of megastar Beyonce Knowles, was 13 she was a dancer for Destiny's Child. Since then, she's written songs for Destiny's Child and Beyonce, gotten married, had a child, and gotten a divorce. And her new album "Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams" was just released.
Solange is supposedly a lot more mature than when she released her first solo album in 2003. "I changed dramatically. I was 17 years old when I got pregnant. At 17, your whole life is about going to prom and going to the mall shopping and really not about much. But soon as you find out you're welcoming a child, your life is changed drastically," Knowles says.
That's the mother of all understatements.
She's 22 now. "You have definitely more morals. You definitely have more of a conscience, and your first priority is your child. Everything I do from this point on, I have him in the back of my mind. At this point, I think also being a mother has given me the courage to do the things that truly make me happy. The best part right now is being a mom - being Julez's mom. At the end of the day when all of this is over, I just want to make sure my son is happy with me as a mom first."
