It's been 8 months since actor Heath Ledger died of an accidental overdose, and his passing left Michelle Williams a single mom to their daughter Matilda Rose, now 2 1/2. For Michelle, who worked for a few months immediately following Ledger's death, didn't have time to properly grieve and needs to do that in order to get back to being creative. She also wants to spend time with her young daughter and focus on her.
The 28-year-old tells the New York Times, "I'm going to take a year off. I think I stopped feeling creative a while ago, and I'm just realizing it now.
"I used to have all the time in the world to daydream and even just to dream and let your unconscious do some of the work for you. Now I'm up at five in the morning and I don't remember what I dreamed about." The star has been left mentally exhausted.
Williams wants to spend time with Matilda and learn a new hobby, "I want to humble myself in front of a task life embroidery. I like how really physcial work can free your mind."
The pretty actress would like to do something fun, and light when she does return to work. "When I work again, maybe it should be a comedy. I've always had a tendancy for darker, more life-life material. I think I had this sense that important things are heavier things. I don't know if that's true anymore."
Michelle spoke of living in New York and the life of being famous. “I feel like that’s been taken away from me. I’m worried what people are saying or thinking, or if they’re going to follow me, or if someone is going to pop out of a bush with a camera. I’ve started to shut down, but I also know I can’t let it dictate my life.”
Currently, Michelle has two film projects being released in the fall, Wendy & Lucy and Synecdoche, New York.
