Nicole Kidman Dishes: Marriage,Work,Kids & Her Temper

Posted by Sassy Smith

Nicole Kidman is in a good place in her life right now.  She's happily married to Keith Urban, is mom to three beautiful children and is embarking on balancing motherhood and work once again.  The 41-year-old actress opens up about her life and talks about how blessed she is.

Kidman spoke with The Sun recently:

On being a mom again with new daughter Sunday Rose:

"To be given the blessing of a child at this stage of my life was wonderful.  My parents suggested the name Sunday.  Her middle name is a tribute to Keith's late grandmother.  She looks like Keith.  Her hair has a bit of a reddish tinge."

She adds, "The birth went surprisingly smoothly.  My mum was in Nashville with me."

Nicole suffered with extreme morning sickness while filming a movie with co-star Hugh Jackman.  "I had horrendous morning sickness, and there were 14 or 15-hour days on the set.  But I had to finish the film."

On rumors that she and Keith aren't happy in their marriage:

"We are never apart for more than two weeks, and even that's too long.  We start to hurt after seven days.  I've never wanted to live my life apart from the person I love.  If you're doing to be with someone, you're with them, you're committed to them.

"I'm not sort of flitting around.  If I fall, I fall - that's it.  We gently fell into each other.  We were two lonely people who went, 'Ah, there you are.'"

On enjoying her life in Nashville:

"We have a very special, quiet life together.  When not working I channel my energy into my marriage and my husband.  I don't go out much.  We have deer and wild turkeys on the ranch and I have an organic vegetable garden.

"My mum has always gardened, my sister gardens.  Now I've started."

On watching her husband perform:

"It's a whole different way of life for me.  I like seeing him do what he does.  He's so good at it.  I like best of all to listen to his music in the kitchen.  That's when I like to watch him play his guitar."

On her 'passionate' ways:

"I would describe myself as emotional and highly strung.  If something upsets me, it really upsets me.  If something makes me angry I get really angry.  But it's all very upfront.  I can't hide it.  I'm also loyal and I hope I'm fun."

On parenting her teens with ex-husband Tom Cruise:

Nicole and Tom share custody of their children, Isabella, 15, and Connor, 13.  "When you have been in a relationship with someone and you move on, you wish them happiness.

"Such generosity must kick in, particularly when you have children.  You need to be a grown-up.  For example, we recently had a discussion about tattoos.  My husband has some and I don't mind them in principle.  But I think you have to be a certain age before you can choose to do something as permanent as that.

"I don't think that age is 14 or 14.  Call me old-fashioned, if you will."

On being an actress:

Nicole was able to work with her son Connor on the set of Australia and she thoroughly enjoyed it, as did he.  "He loved  it.  There were a lot of horses and he worked with them and the wranglers.  He got a pay cheque - his first - from his mother."

She adds, "It was really good to be back home in Austalia, but it was hard work.  Filming took eight months and was done entirely on location.  We were camping out in tents in the middle of the desert.  It was terribly hot as well, but lovely.

"This is the kind of film that I dreamed of making as a girl, one of the biggest films to be made in my country.  It's very romantic, magical, and has great tragedy to it as well."
