SNL Skit Implies Todd Palin Had Sex With Daughter Bristol

Posted by Sassy Smith

I'm all for a good spoof - certainly when Tina Fey opened the SNL season doing Sarah Palin, she was funny.  The whole skit was hilarious.  However, a second attempt to poke fun of the presidential race by SNL by "lampooning The New York Times as out of touch," didn't come off as very funny.  Instead, the spoof inferred that Palin's husband Todd has had sex with his pregnant daughter, Bristol.  Um, eww.

I didn't see the sketch and although it was posted on Youtube, it's since been removed by NBC claiming 'copyright laws.'  The implication of incest has angered many people.

Here's the skit, as described by foxnews.com:

In the sketch, New York Times reporters are sitting around an assignment meeting discussing what about Palin to investigate next.

One reporter asks: “What about the husband? You know he’s doing those daughters. I mean, come on. It’s Alaska.”

Guest host James Franco, who played the assignment editor, sets up the joke of proving a negative, saying, “He very well could be. Admittedly, there is no evidence of that, but on the other hand, there is no convincing evidence to the contrary. And these are just some of the lingering questions about Governor Palin.”

After three of the reporters agree to go to Alaska, one sues for sexual discrimination after being called “sweetie” by a school board member, one is killed by a polar bear and a final reporter wins a Pulitzer for “unproven, yet un-disproven incest in the Palin family” and then is killed by a polar bear driving a “snow machine.”

The final shot in the rambling joke is an image of a New York Times page, featuring headlines: “While No Direct Evidence of Incest in Palin Family Emerges, Counter Evidence Remains Agonizingly Elusive” and “In a Small Alaska Town, Doubts Still Linger.”

Seriously, do we really believe that Todd Palin has slept with his own daughter?  I think that's going a bit far.  Sure, we've speculated that baby Trig is the son of Bristol and not Sarah but to imply that Bristol's dad had sex with her is just not funny.

i did see the skit. while it was in poor taste, it was not really about whether people think that about the palin's - rather they were skewering the media and their tendency to jump on a "story" bandwagon without checking out the facts...

oh wait...

kind of like here.

below is a link to a good and (i think) unbiased commentary on the SNL skit.

SNL has sucked for years.  The producers hire friends of friends from ivy league schools, not actual writers.  You know the kind of people you think are funny when you are out getting drunk with them.  I just want to know when Mrs. Stalins hairstyle will exit the 80's and join us here in the 21st century. I wore that updo to my freaking prom in 87!

"Duh" nailed it. The sketch was attacking the media and how they jump on crazy scandal bandwagons.

Though I kind of get the impression Fox news is looking for any reason to go after SNL these days.
