A Las Vegas jury found O.J. Simpson guilty Friday for robbing two Las Vegas memorabilia dealers at gunpoint in a Las Vegas hotel room. The verdict came 13 years to the day after Simpson was acquitted for the murder of ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman in Los Angeles.
Simpson could spend the rest of his life in jail for kidnapping, armed robbery and 10 other charges in the incident that took place in September of 2007. The Hall of Fame football star barged into a hotel room with a group of men and seized game balls, plaques and photos that Simpson claimed belonged to him. Prosecutors said two of the men with him were armed and one of them said Simpson asked him to bring a gun.
Simpson was immediately taken into custody after the verdict was read. In an interview on Thursday Simpson had implied that he expected to be found guilty and said that he was "afraid that I won't get to go to my kids' college graduations after I managed to get them through college."
I don't feel sorry for Simpson but I do feel for his four children, especially his two youngest children with Nicole, Sydney and Justin. They will now not only have to see their father go to jail possibly for the rest of his life, but were only 6 and 9 when their mother was murdered by Simpson - I mean, an unknown assailant.
Sentencing is set for December 5.
